Before jumping in this week, I had to share a recent run in I had with my random fishie friend who keeps appearing in unexpected places! Say hi to my fishie friend who appeared in last week’s spread of cheese on my cracker. For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, check out:

Gabby and I have shared many times about different philosophies we follow and one that I come back to time and time again is the idea that happiness attracts happiness.

It’s a spin off Gabby Bernstein’s The Universe Has Your Back, which is her concept that the universe will give you back what you are willing to receive. I thought of this recently reading

Annie Ridout
latest post on her photo that broke the internet. It was basic photo of a mug she purchased while shopping with her daughter. The mug itself brought her significant happiness and, apparently, it brought happiness to the internet as well! She writes:

THEY LOVED MY MUG.

But what I think they loved more is that I was taking a moment to appreciate the mug and my morning coffee…

Our Mishmosh newsletter has been a fun outlet to share things we’re working on, thinking about, worried about, interested in, and so on. As Annie noted, I think a lot of the positive feedback we receive from our readers comes from them enjoying the emotion we’re willing to share. Our weekly newsletters are a way for our readers to feel happiness from our happiness or comfort knowing we share challenges.

I’ve been thinking about energy attraction a lot lately as our family works our way through Jamie’s latest sleep regression. Lately, I have no idea when he’ll be tired for a nap during the day or how he will sleep at night. Our sleep routine used to be simple - draw the shades, turn on the sound machine, hum a little tune, and say bye bye for naptime. These days, the second his head hits the crib, there is an instant, ongoing wailing. Aka pure torture for me.

The unpredictability of his sleep patterns are starting to take a toll on me. For example, last night he woke up with a very intense screaming cry. This is unusual for him! So I rushed into his room to try and solve the problem - Does he have his pacifier? Yes. Is he hungry? No. Maybe he’s teething?

Last week, when this all started, I worked through it patiently. I soothed him to the best of my ability for 30-40 minutes until he was sleepy again. Last night, after 5 minutes of trying to soothe him through what I suspected was a teething episode, he started fidgeting in my arms - pulling my hair, playing with my necklace, squirming to get to the floor and walk around. Frustration overwhelmed me, and quickly. Why won’t he relax into my soothing rock?!

Sensing my frustration, Jamie started squirming even more. Tension started to build between us.

Frustration attracted frustration.
